Loki

Loki · Norse God of Mischief and Shape — The Trigger of Ragnarök

Norse god of shape-shifting, cunning, fire, and chaos. Of giant blood but blood-brother to Odin, he dwells among the Æsir. He aids the gods as often as he harms them — a duality that ends with him orchestrating Baldr's death and triggering Ragnarök.

Origin

Son of the giant Fárbauti and Laufey. Sworn brother to Odin by blood, he became one of the Æsir. As a mare he birthed the eight-legged Sleipnir; with the giantess Angrboda he sired Fenrir, Jörmungandr, and the death-queen Hel.

Features

  • Young, handsome, clever — with a subtly crooked smile
  • Shape-shifts freely across sex, race, and species
  • Monstrous offspring: wolf Fenrir, serpent Jörmungandr, Hel of the dead
  • After Baldr's death, bound beneath a venom-dripping serpent

Usage

Often rescues the gods with cunning schemes — though usually after causing the disaster himself. Behind the recovery of Mjölnir, the replacement of Sif's hair, and many other myths.
