The warrior is the most fundamental and universal melee combat class in fantasy RPGs, fighting on the front lines with various weapons — swords, axes, spears, blunt weapons — through raw strength and stamina. Relying on pure martial power and combat experience rather than magic or special abilities, warriors often serve as tanks in heavy armor absorbing enemy attacks. Boromir from Tolkien and D&D's Fighter class are archetypal, representing the 'powerful but simple' classic accessible to beginners.
