The Bismarck was a large battleship built by Nazi Germany during World War II. Renowned for its powerful armament and armor, it is most famous for the sinking of HMS Hood.
Origin
Construction began in 1936 and the ship was launched in 1940, named after Germanyโs first chancellor, Otto von Bismarck. It was part of Germanyโs naval rearmament program.
