The archetype of 'shōnen manga heroic narrative' where an ordinary rural youth is chosen by destiny — Tolkien's Frodo is a variant of the hero class.

Origin

A concept established in Japanese RPG culture, with the Hero (勇者) from Dragon Quest as the direct modern archetype. The Bible's prophesied savior and King Arthur's chosen knight are also the same archetype.
